It has been said that the Democrats have created a plantation. I completely agree. Here is my break down of the 3 types of liberals:

Type III (the downtrodden base): These are the slaves of the liberal/Dem/progressives. Instead of picking cotton, they are kept on the plantation to pick votes for Dems. Let's explore the analogy; slave owners provided food, clothing, medical care and shelter for their slaves in return for the work they provided the plantation. Dems provide food, medical care, cash and shelter for their slaves in return for the votes they provide the plantation. Most slave owners ensured their slaves didn't get a decent education so they didn't learn how to care for themselves and run away and survive on their own. Liberal slave owners have taken over large parts of the education system and are ensuring the poor are kept sufficiently uneducated enough to actually believe they need the liberal slave owners' programs to survive. Slave owners would routinely control their slaves by telling them they couldn't make it without the slave owner. Democrats tell their slaves that the system is stacked against them and they need the plantation to protect them from the "unfair" world. If a slave was caught running away, he/she was punished severely or on occasion killed to make an example for the others. If a liberal's slave wakes up and speaks out against the Democratic plantation, they are severely punished in the public square or attacked professionally (for example: calling Rep West and Uncle Tom, or Herman Cain the Tea Party's token black, or calling Sec Rice a "house nigga"). The result for many of the modern day slaves of liberals is they lack education, personal responsibility/accountability, morality, and self-confidence/esteem. Additionally, they are filled with a sense of entitlement and rage against the phantom "system" the liberals are telling them are working against them (unfortunately, most aren't educated enough to see that the actual system working against them is the one the Democrats created to keep them on the plantation).

Type II: (ideological youth). These are also known as the useful idiots. They are a direct product of the liberally controlled education system that keeps cramming the lies that socialism/collectivism/Marxism are great, while spreading the lie that the capitalist system is evil. They are rarely told the truth about how the free market led by the USA has produced the most good for humanity over the past 200+ years than the entire course of human history that proceeded it. They are told moronic theories about how the US and it's "military machine" is responsible for all the evil in the world and that if we were to unarm, the rest of the world would follow. The goal of capturing the youth is that 1) they haven't enough life experience to see their teachers are completely full of crap, 2) if they do see through the teachers' lies, they are in a subservient position so they won't challenge the lies for fear of low grades, & 3) to indoctrinate these vulnerable folks trying to create the next generation of Type I liberals. The result for the ideological youth is one of three: 1) some will become Type III liberals and be part of the plantation entitlement force (usually the ones who get $60K school loans for a Russian Literature degree), 2) a few will become Type I liberals and continue spreading the lies and hate, & 3) most will get a job and learn that their teachers were idiots and they'll join the majority of America as conservatives.

Type I: (Progressive elite). These are the teachers, professors, Democratic politicians, union leaders, journalists, mainstream media masters and defense lawyers. These are the slave owners. The elitism is at the heart of their motives to destroy freedom and liberty. They honestly believe that they are better than the rest of the population. They think the American public (as a whole) is too stupid to make the proper decisions for themselves. They decided a long time ago that they have all the answers for everyone and that their ultimate goal is to institute those answers at any cost (the ends justify the means). This displays the true arrogance of liberalism, that all problems have a one-size-fits-all solution (and that they are the only ones enlightened enough to have that solution). They have true disdain for everyone who is not one of the progressive elite. If you are conservative, you are the enemy that must be destroyed and/or silenced. That's why they resort to name-calling, slander, lies, and violence (OWS, union riots). If you are a youth, then you are one of the useful idiots needed for protests and to send to the OWS camps to start trouble (god forbid an elite get his/her hands dirty, better to let the 20 yr old get pepper-sprayed for throwing rocks at the police). If you are downtrodden, then welcome to the plantation. They will keep you supplied with just enough of other people's money to keep your votes while making sure you aren't able to rise up against the slave owners. The elites are also masters of projecting their evil on others. Progressive elite busnessmen gain their wealth by lying and stealing, therefore they believe that means that every other businessman must be a crook too. They have racism/sexism in their hearts (goes back to their disdain for everyone else) so they assume that everyone else is a racist or sexist too. They cheat in elections so if a conservative wins they automatically assume the other side cheated too. Their protests are manufactured (astro-turf) with union money and type II & III liberals who are brought in on a union bus, so how could they possibly understand that the Tea Party was a real grassroots campaign? They are completely committed to the cause and don't care who they have to destroy to get there. They are blind to the fact that their goals have been tried multiple times throughout human history with disasterous ends (tens of millions dead, mass poverty, mass starvation, and dictatorships). Bottom line: the progressive elite are the slave owners looking to grow their plantation to gain wealth and power with no concern for how they have to get what they want.
