There are contradictions in both of the following paragraphs.

Now this could be the earth's axis tilting more erratically than ever before ... or perhaps earth's orbit around the sun is changing ... but my money's on global temperatures rising due to man made influences or natural fluctuation.

Axis tilt and orbit change are easily verifiable. You don't list the sun's influence as a possible driver of a hot June, though. Curious. So, then your money is on either AGW or natural fluctuation...wow...you are really putting yourself out there on that one. Do you bet on every horse at the track, too?

I was being a smartass but I guess that's lost on you. And the sun's influence was implied, why else would axis tilt or orbit change be relevant? Maybe it's god punishing us for obamacare?

But it's ok that you don't believe. The planet will be just fine, it's been here for billions of years and will be here for billions more sustaining life of all shapes and sizes. It's our weak, pathetic asses that will be screwed. Personally, I hope this climate trend continues and a major global event brings the human race to near extinction because I f*cking hate people. That movie The Day After Tomorrow almost gave me wood.

Not sure what you're saying in the last paragraph, either. "The planet will be fine...sustaining life of all shapes and sizes." But that somehow doesn't include us..."our weak, pathetic asses will be screwed"? So, will the planet be fine or not?

Lol, The planet will be fine. The majority of human beings will not. I'm not saying we'll necessarily go extinct or that it would happen in our lifetime (or our children's or their children's lifetime).

And you hate people? I have heard that before many times and it baffles me. People are friggin awesome! We rock! I am assuming because you are discussing this stuff, or any stuff, that you are people, too. Is this self-loathing or do you really not believe that you are one of us? Are you one of those folks that support abortions of those hated people? Are you one of those folks who value animal life over human life?

Yeah I hate people. I care about specific persons but people in general can go f*ck themselves. Yeah, I'm a bit of a sociopath. I'd put a bullet in a 12 yr old faster than I would an animal unless I was planning to eat said animal.

BTW, if that movie almost gave you wood, then Inconvenient Truth must have been like porn for you. Tell the truth, you covered the Farrah Fawcet poster on your bedroom wall with one of Al Gore, didn't you? Do you have to wipe it off now and then? Is that Woody Allen on your ceiling? [/color]

Never watched Gore's little docudrama. Never hung posters on my walls either. I preferred to actually go out and get laid when I was a teenager. I beat off more now that I'm married than I ever did in adolescence. You're references are pretty amusing though. Woody Allen & Farrah Fawcet? I'm not "with it" when it comes to celebs either but come on ... you've got to at least try to post references from this century.

OK, so for all those that actually believe humans are causing "global warming" I ask one simple question....

Do you want the earth to cool?

or

Do you just want some socialist control of energy?

Pretend we simply did as the commie lovers suggest....hell, let's pretend we go completely progressive and live in fantasy land and we stop everything....we only plant more trees...(which we have been doing anyway for different reasons)....any idea what percentage of greenhouse gas is from man?

I never said I believed that man was causing climate change. But I do believe the climate is changing. Our involvement is unclear. You're right, it seems that our contribution to greenhouse gases might be minuscule, we just don't know ... I mean burning coal, gasoline, cutting down trees, the meat industry, etc. does add to it but there's no way to measure our impact vs normal climate shifts over several millennia. We just haven't been keeping records long enough and there's only so much that scientists can learn about the atmosphere from things like ice cores and fossils.

But to believe that our planet will stay in its current state indefinitely is just ludicrous. The planet is a living breathing organism always changing. The atmospheres of prehistoric eras were nothing like ours today, human beings could not survive in the times of the dinosaurs, the air would be poison to us.

As for energy, I'd like to see a real effort to get the entire world off of burning fossil fuels. The earth's surface is covered 70% by water. Water is 2 parts hydrogen (a combustible energy source) and one part oxygen (a catalyst) .. is it not conceivable, then to assume water might be the solution to our energy dilemma? Perhaps the US could maybe take a small portion of that 650 billion we spend each year on ineffective killing machines and use it for science? Yeah, I didn't think so .. f*ck it then, screw the environment, somebody push the button and lets turn this blue marble in to a fiery inferno.

I respect where you are coming from. I'm all for advancement.

Do you trust that the next leap will go better than the leap from combustion to nuclear?

So, if we resist moving to a type 1 civilization, we are terrorists? That's what he said. I don't buy it. This guy is interesting. I see him on TV a lot. But, I don't want his type 1 civilization if it is going to be created by Soros and his Open Borders mission or by the Islamists as a Global Caliphate. Like a typical theoretical scientist, he doesn't see the trees for the forest. That forest may end up being run by a bin Laden or Soros himself (as he is one of the undead and will be with us forever). The transition will be dangerous because there will be a lot of trees in that forest that would resist. The only way a type 1 would work is with a constitutional republic for a global government but getting there without force is almost impossible. I don't see anything other than a despot or an oligarchy or a theocracy that would attempt by force to unite all nations and peoples and open all borders. What do you think, Mr. Kam?

He does spell out what many refer to as the NWO! It's weird because much of what they paint as a conspiracy of a secret elite is really a mass mindset of collectivism. So many want "world peace", to think "globally", a "paradigm shift"...all of that stuff that sounds good but it is just dangerous.

I agree with you GranpaGreer. We are all very different people and it's clear we all can't get along. I believe the American way is the best way and I am not willing to compromise it. We all should be free to do our thing so long as we don't deprive another of doing their thing. I respect that everyone knows what is best for themselves just as I know what is best for my family and myself. If defending my freedom is terrorism then so be it...I absolutely value my family more than every single person on the planet combined....we all feel that way. It's a fact that gets in the way of the progressive's dream of utopia.

The great political clash is between those that want to "progress" into a more evolved world system...and those that know it's a pure disaster waiting to happen.

I would love to see us take to other planets, advance, all of that good stuff....but we went from the technology of combustion to nuclear and it just means we can wipe out the planet in under 27 minutes....the next leap will obviously mean an even greater destructive capability.

I don't believe Dr. Kaku meant us when he spoke of terrorists though...he thinks it's the middle east that is resisting joining us in the 21st century. He made comments about it when I met him in a group setting arranged by my old physics professor.

He did seem naive, maybe a bit elitist about human nature...we haven't changed....but he thinks we can!

He can afford to be a dreamer about human nature and what could be...you and I can't.
You seem to have lived an interesting life. I remember you said you used to live in NYC. I used to live in upstate NY off and on between 1960 and 1974: Highland (across the river from Poughkeepsie), Clintondale, Saugerties...my dad was an IBM'er. I remember driving down to the city one time (to see a John McLaughlin Mahavishnu Orchestra concert (w/Jan Hammer, Billy Cobham) in 73-74) and getting in a line I thought was for the concert and it ended up being a gas line. Remember those? I've been waiting for those to come back. I had some girl friends I would stay with on Astoria Blvd in Queens. They lived across the street from Astoria Manor. Cousins. The one's daddy was mobbed up (friend of Crazy Joe Gallo), but he never bothered me. Those girls were a hoot! Facebook friends only now. Had some great memories of NYC. My mom took us out of school one time to go down to the city for the day. We saw the play Hair not long after it opened. They lit up real joints on the stage at one point and my sister says, "They're smoking real pot!" and my mom leans forward and looks over at her and says, "How do you know?" Ooops. Then they all got naked on stage and being a teenage boy, I was in heaven. My dad and I went to see the Yankees (my team) and the Mets a few times. We were at Shea when they played the longest game in MLB history (at the time). It went something like 21 innings. We left after 17 and listened to it all the way home. I have pictures of the Yanks playing the Orioles at old Yankee Stadium, Mickey Mantle warming up for clean up and Marris at bat. We were right behind home plate that day (1968, I believe). I remember Times Square was a real pisshole, being pre-Giuliani, of course. Sorry. Just old memories spilling out. I was there once in November 2000 and again in June 2005. Love the City. But now I love my little log cabin in the woods of Kentucky even more. Will live and die here, buried on the property next to my folks and family...as it should be. Plenty of water, land, woods, fish, deer, turkey, rabbits. Truly a land of plenty that we can live off of, if need be. We have about 20 acres that are tillable and the rest of our piece of the holler is hilly and forested. There is a lot of affordable land out here in fly-over country. Folks need to buy it up before the Feds get a hold of it all and herd everyone into the "population hubs". If we ever get off planet, I would look for a planet like Kentucky. Later...

This made me nostalgic! You triggered many childhood memories. I lived in Jackson Heights with an old girlfriend for a year and half…Staten Island for 2 years but I lived most of my life in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. The opening of “Welcome Back Carter” was shot three blocks from me on 86th street.

It was run by the mafia. “I didn’t see nothing” was the first thing you said to a cop. The stories I could tell…

The blackout, son of sam struck on Shore Road by the park, the huge blizzards (proof of global cooling!)…I went to Lafayette HS, it’s shown in the “French Connection" during that car chasing the subway scene….it’s also where Sandy Koufax pitched…and John Franco.

This was my first involvement something that became national news…and further reinforced my notions of how warped “reporting” is.

It was nothing like it was reported at all…and the march down Bath Ave was the beginning of Sharpton gaining “credibility”. Prior to that he was a joke attached to the Tawanna Brawley fiasco.

Used to frequent l'amours…saw Metallica there, Guns n Roses…

I met the guys in Metallica when they were here. They asked for directions and singled me out because I had the rocker hair!

I am 41 so my baseball memories really began with Torre managing the Mets! I was a die hard Met fan that died a hard death….I am done with them! The Wilpons are morons.

My most memorable Met moment that is well known is this…

Where’s Waldo? That's all I will say about this!

I still have a place in Brooklyn (I am in Brooklyn right now) but now am happy to live in Hollywood Florida. I do want to find some property like you have…because like you have said and like all leftists are unaware of, cities are completely dependent on “flyover country” for survival.
