Global warming debate = religious debate - politics

There are real environmental issues plaguing this planet, issues you can see, smell, touch and unfortunately taste. Yet all these issues with the environment take a back seat to the one you can't PROVE scientifically and we are left to take the word of smarter men that this is really happening and is as bad as they say. This reminds me of another debate where people believe things are caused by some kind of deity which you can not see or touch but according to smarter men then you is there (and is pissed off) vs science, which you can see smell touch ect.

To appease god. replace god with sun and angry with co2 but keep some powerful ja****s telling you what to do to stop the issue when in reality he has no clue.

I want to point out that this satellite idea kinda opposes the original premise of this poster. Now all of humanity needs to get behind building and launching these massive satellites much like all of humanity had to spend their day off building churches
terroraustralis - May 9, 2013, 1:05 pm
you raise a good point. and that is why satellites are the safest option. they can be "tuned" to block less sunlight by being rotated to face away from the sun. all the other methods of climate control are extremely risky and have unforseen effects.
terroraustralis - May 9, 2013, 1:01 pm
it would take tens of thousands of satellites. but they'll still be cheaper than dealing with the economic catastrophe a**ociated with runaway climate change. and they'll become cheaper as space technology improves.
ipaprime - May 9, 2013, 8:02 am
as stated you would need to cover many 10s of thousands of square miles to affect the climate as you are wanting to
ipaprime - May 9, 2013, 8:00 am
your mistake is a simple one it would take a lot more than a couple of 300x300 satilites
ipaprime - May 9, 2013, 7:58 am
true but it show how events can change the environment quickly
terroraustralis - May 8, 2013, 9:03 pm
the best part is, if the satellites are too effective, and begin to cause too much cooling, they can simply use their inbuilt propulsion systems to move their rotational axis so that they block less of the sun's energy
terroraustralis - May 8, 2013, 9:00 pm
the satellites would require almost no maintinence, and would be periodically replaced as the old ones break. ion engines and solar panels can be made with zero moving parts. the only neccesary maintinence would be refuelling, carried out by robots.
terroraustralis - May 8, 2013, 8:57 pm
the size requirements are easily met by using ultra thin metallic fabric, which can be held in place by rotational inertia. the satellites simply need to spin at a certain speed, and a single satellite can easily cover an area of more than 300x300 feet

Hanoi John a traitor to America - politics

In 1971, John Kerry was working with Jane Fonda aiding the enemy that we were fighting. They were burning American Flags and carrying pictures of Ho Chi Minh and communists flags. They next year, propaganda posters could be found all over Vietnam's jungles of Fonda wearing an enemy uniform, manning an antiaircraft weapon in Hanoi, and of Kerry leading a demonstration in Washington. In 1971, Kerry published a book that was pro-Hanoi and whose cover mocked the flag raising at Iwo Jima. His book and speeches trashed an entire generation of the United States Armed Forces who fought in Vietnam. These activities make John Kerry, Jane Fonda and all others like them, traitors. The blood of thousands of America's finest is on their hands. The North Vietnamese were encouraged to continue a war that they couldn't win on the battlefield, but on our home front. A war that was fought for a noble cause to stop communism and to save South Vietnam was defamed, smeared and ultimately lost. Lost by the Kerry-types, left-wing liberal politicians, most of the media, and hordes of college protestors, and draft dodgers. The draft dodgers were later given legitimacy and called real heroes by Jimmy Carter. This is a slap in the face to anyone who ever served and the most disgraceful act of any president in our history.

Obamacare exemption for Congress, staffers? - politics

In typical Washington fashion: one set of rules for politicians; another set for taxpayers. Time to say enough is enough. Americans won't sit idly by while progressives destroy our country. There's no leadership anywhere in Congress. Obamacare is the largest tax increase in history and will hurt people of every age and economic level. While this administration hollows out our military, refuses to live by a budget, doesn't reform entitlements or cut spending, our country becomes weaker. We are on verge of an economic catastrophe.
