I think he was referring more to the funding going to imperialism rather than the border.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:46pm, #53394

Nope, violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. We do not want a police/military state.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:44pm, #53393

A douche bag politician. He is afraid of being sued by a dead guy, He is afraid the defendant's status might match his brain cells status.

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 3:41pm, #53392

Hippies? Seriously?? The 1960's called -- they want their stereotype back. (And they wonder why people say that conservatives live in the past.)

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 3:37pm, #53391

Perhaps you might look at some of the dozens of conspiracy BS posters that have show up here in the last week or so.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:37pm, #53390

Biden sucks, there is no camera or microphone that he won't chase. Biden is a total idiot. Obama has him in place so that he won't be impeached.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:34pm, #53389

PapaFox, I bet more conservatives read than the liberal hippies.

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 3:34pm, #53388

Which "strict gun controls laws" are you referring to?

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:33pm, #53387

I have yet to see one conspiracy theorist question this move. Support your facts without logical fallacies.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 3:23pm, #53386

Naïve comment. Are you narcissistic?

Curlyrocks - Apr 26, 2013 3:23pm, #53385

And it would be way easier to replace one liquid fuel for another as the infrastructure is already there. I like methanol because it can be make from most any bio-mass like waste vegetation, coal, oil, what evers in the neighborhood.

Curlyrocks - Apr 26, 2013 3:12pm, #53384

Octane is a measure of rate burn and heat,101 octane methanol burns slower and h**ter than 100% octane. And on top of the $ to be made the auto industry spent the last 100 years sinking all their eggs in the internal combustion engine. They wont drop it.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 2:54pm, #53383

U.S. troops on the Mexican border is a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. I do not want a military police state.

GrandGremlin - Apr 26, 2013 2:52pm, #53382

Are you implying the UK is not about freedom and liberty?

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 1:51pm, #53381

See #36170

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 1:48pm, #53380

Actually the term "Assault Weapon" was invented by the gun industry to sell more guns.

crankyhead - Apr 26, 2013 1:42pm, #53379

Seriously though, OTC, what caused the START and the END of the last ice age? (What's the matter lil' buddy, question to difficult, or are you just a stupid liberal?)

crankyhead - Apr 26, 2013 1:39pm, #53378

Guys, churches don't perform marriages, they perform weddings. A marriage, is a certificate that you get at the county clerks office. Religion has sweet fk all to do with it.

Preacher Man - Apr 26, 2013 1:26pm, #53377

…then banning other types becomes easier. Just keep saying ‘THIS gun is more dangerous than other guns’, and you can keep getting them banned. Until there are none left.

Preacher Man - Apr 26, 2013 1:25pm, #53376

One of the few times I agree with Rush Limbaugh: the phrase 'assault weapon' is a political construct. Any gun can be used for a**ault purposes. It's an excuse to ban certain types of guns. Once they've established the precedent that they can do that...

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 1:14pm, #53375

Universal background checks don't exist yet, and they are not yet implemented state level nation wide, creating easily abused loop holes. Also, if you're arguing that it's about laws that are already there, you're contradicting your own previous argument

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 1:11pm, #53374

So, is it that you don't intend to try to answer my question, or that there just isn't an answer?

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 1:11pm, #53373

Sure, one example is that homo partners currently are basically double taxed on inheritance from their dead spouse. Another example is the inability to make medical decisions in the case that the partner is incapacitated.

sawgnr - Apr 26, 2013 12:34pm, #53372

You do know that the troops in the above picture are UK and not US right?

OTC - Apr 26, 2013 12:28pm, #53371

You're arguing about laws are already there, passing more laws is just symbolism to feel good about doing something.

OTC - Apr 26, 2013 12:25pm, #53370

What benefits are more difficult or not applicable?

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 12:01pm, #53369

Allowing g** marriage wouldn't force churches (or whatever other religious organization) to perform services, just offers legal viability to the union.

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 12:00pm, #53368

Obviously churches can be as discriminate as they want, freedom of religion and all that. I'm saying the laws should simply be expanded to incorporate homos. The actual "marriage" can be religious (as available) or just legal the same as hetero couples.

Oyster - Apr 26, 2013 11:47am, #53367

Also, I am out for the day, so I'll check back for your response on Monday, ok?

Oyster - Apr 26, 2013 11:46am, #53366

My best friend did it that way, simple and quick at city hall, performed by the mayor.

Oyster - Apr 26, 2013 11:45am, #53365

I'm going somewhere with this, obviously. Since you want both, will the next step be to legislate that churches perform the 'marriage'? Or will going to city hall and having a civil union performed be enough?

Oyster - Apr 26, 2013 11:05am, #53364

Hey papa, are you a golfer too?

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 10:32am, #53363

A viable reason to argue against differentiating it, is that having two separate policies allows for differing rights/benefits to be provided to the two groups, plus overhead in trying to get politicians to update both simultaneously as needed.

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 10:30am, #53362

I've already answered that, equal rights. You however appear to be purposefully evading my question as to why there should even be a re-terming or segregation involved beyond religious or "moral" beliefs...

Oyster - Apr 26, 2013 10:11am, #53361

So is it the 'term' you want, or the equal rights?

Renza - Apr 26, 2013 10:05am, #53360

You could easily make a stronger version of the same argument for churches.

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 9:56am, #53359

Indeed! :)

PapaFox - Apr 26, 2013 9:23am, #53358

Uh, no... the Manchin-Toomey plan exempts sales between family members.

StoneTools - Apr 26, 2013 9:14am, #53357

In the last election, Johnson was poopooed in the press and received very little publicity in the news outlets. He was a bad candidate, but he still should have been treated better in the press.

StoneTools - Apr 26, 2013 9:12am, #53356

We also need public vetting of candidates with truthful, unbiased reporting. Biased reporting contributes heavily to having morons in government. It's also the biggest impediment to getting a good 3rd party candidate for any office.
